Kickstarter day 5. Stretch goal negotiations

Hello all.

It has been a busy day today. I haven’t really had a lot of time to work on documentation or releasing the simulator. Luckily community members have already begun writing tutorials. Thanks!

This morning I started with a call to an investor. We are going to need to hire someone and arrange more production space. One of the goals of this Kickstarter was to see if there is interest for a product like this. I think that question has been answered.

Then I went to the plastics factory to talk about making transparent covers for the Pokitto. I have good and bad news. Good news is that transparent cases can be made. Bad news is that they absolutely can not be done yet. We can make pretty cool translucent (semi-transparent) cases, but making glass-clear cases is not so easy.

The way that glass-clear cases are made is the molds need to be polished to a high degree. This means shipping the mold to a specialist shop, that uses diamond dust (yes you heard me right) to polish the mold. This process can take 1-2 weeks + shipping.

At the moment priority 1 is to keep the schedules. We can not risk the timelines by stopping everything and sending the molds for polishing at this point in time. Instead, we are going to make some other ideas first for stretch goals.

Other good news is that we have found a solution for a pouch and its pretty cool!

Thanks for reading, and welcome to all new community members!

Awesome! Not super keen on the clear idea, but I know some are, so I appreciate you looking into it

I also wanted to make that video so you guys see how smart I look in my business casual (a.k.a. I need a haircut)

This is the way we do business in Finland.

In two weeks I will show you the other side of the story, the factory in USA (mystery, hype!)

realy cool and for the transparent it was just an extra, not a killer feature.

Nice! I would love a translucent (gameboy-violet translucent of course) but that might be ordered later, after receiving the opaque one

A Pokitto is not enough (pun)

That was what I was hoping for anyway, translucent green or white, not glass clear. If there’s anyway translucent options can be included without affecting the schedule, that’d be awesome.

translucent is not a problem!

@jonne. Would there be an option to select transparent with a later shipping date? I recently backed another project on Kickstarter for a Smart Watch. One of the stretch goals was a “petite” version that was smaller and more feminine. The original size ship date is September. The option to select petite will be given, but if selected, it is with the full knowledge that the order will not be shipped until December. With those who ordered a 2 pack, if one was a petite, then the entire shipment would be delayed until December OR they could pay an additional $5 shipping to have them shipped separately. Perhaps something similar could be done for transparent colors with a different target date.

A translucent option would be really fantastic!

@josh this is exactly what should be done. First produce color / translucent pieces so we satisfy demand and then take a new look at the clear cases

Thanks @jonne for all your hard work. I think most of us will be very happy with a translucent case we can upgrade later to a fully clear case if we want once there’s a pokitto store lol.

@Sudoapt-getburrito Yep, I’m working hard at the moment but it doesn’t feel like it because I’m enjoying it so much! Thanks for your support!
