Would it be possible and not so difficult to bridge it to IRC on the server side?
The tech exists to do such. I’ve been in a number of bridged chats between IRC - Discord - Telegram - Matrix
Been wondering myself about this with Matrix, but I can access IRC through the clients I use anyway
