Really nice!
I’d love to see some falling star or satellite on background
I want martians peeking out of the ground, zombie shoot style
Tweaking the foreground gfx.
Wow! The separation looks much clearer now.
I think I will reduce the number of color shades. It does not look retro enough for me
256 colors are waaaay too many!
It’s looks very nice and retro to me. It reminds me of some old green crt monitor.
But what about some real gameplay
You’be surprised the detail you can have with just 16 colours anyway.
Do you mean a fixed palette (like pico-8) or an optimized palette?
Both, most of the games i worked on for Pokitto were using the pico8 palette. Weirdly enough the only time i used a bigger palette was on my pine 2k games, and even there i only used a few colours.
This is the previous version again:
Now I reduced the number of shades to make it look more retro:
So, which one looks better to you?
- The one which has more shades
- The one which is more retro

I like the “retro” one a bit more, however is it possible to make the ground more red and less pink?
Fighting with the PROGMEM limit. Had to remove some features
Made the enemies.
Just wait to Pine-3K comes out. It will give you the space you need!
Looking really good BTW.
Now the martians can shoot too. I also took into use the built-in collision detection.
