[chip shortage] FYI: global supply of LCD driver chips getting worse and going to be very bad in 2022

Dear Customer,

This is to notify that situation is bad now and it will be getting worse and worse in the future. We have to suffer till the end of 2022.

Now both LCD Panels and Drivers are in shortage, in September, a more serious shortage will come.

1. GP has just got 1/3 of color filters, in result, their lead time of the panels is more than 6 months，and so far, they did not accept the new order.
2. Sitronix has just got 25% wafer, as a result, their drivers’ price has gone up by 20 times recently, many LCD module companies closed down due to no driver at all.
3. ILITEK has no output at all because they just got 10% wafer.
4. Goodix is the same as ILITEK, almost no drivers to go to the market.
5. Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi,OPPO never stop stocking the drivers, it is said they are aiming to stock the quantity for 20 years’ consuption.
6. 5G devices use the drivers which consumes 50 times of wafer than 4G.
7. Auto power drivers consumes far more wafers than 5G device.
8. 99.8% of production capacity is used up in TSMC, and they are not willing to produce display drivers due to its low value.
9. At the same time, Malaysia and Singapore lock the city, and the wafer production can not be done normally.
10. Taiwan water and Electric supply termination affect glass and driver production， another risk is the popularity of the Taiwan’s Convid-19. The new wafer factory building-up takes 1-2 years.
