[Wip] Malice in Bomberland

Reminds me of the various ‘chimeras’ from Mother 3…

mecha-turtle mecha-mole! mecha-drago

Mecha turtle, mecha mole, mecha drago…

And, I kid you not, a “Boa Transistor”: boatransistor
(I love terrible puns like that.)

I also love puns that just barely make it

I need to do something about the Kitty, it looks too much like the Sanrio kitty

I tought that too.

Could you turn the ribbon of the cat into a baseball cap?

Also: What about a top-hat cat? :tophat:

Dog walk left

kuva frame 4 same as frame 2

@Hanski, please note, each walk cycle is 4 frames, and the middle frame (where the head is at the lowest point, the “compression” frame is always repeated twice in each walk cycle.

This goes for all directions

EDIT: in sideways walking it is the frame where the head is highest that is repeated twice.

My earlier gif in right direction was wrong. This is how it should go

I am making moving in P!K “forgiving” so that you do not have to be exactly on the right spot when making a turn. Inspired by “Coyote time”.
After that I will integrate the new graphics.

This is what I mean by “forgiving” controls. I am just pressing down key all the time. When the sprite hits to the tile it automatically “slides” sideways, if there is an empty spot in the neighbor tiles.

Otherwise, you would need to have pixel-perfect position to move between tiles which was very inconvenient in a game like Bomberman.

Another option would be that the sprite always moves 16 pixels, so it would always be correctly aligned, but I wanted to avoid that.

I am not sure about that idea… How about it still moves 16 pixels but smoothly so that it doesn’t look like it is? I fear that the player would sometimes move in the wrong direction…

May well be that it is not working well enough, but I want to try it first.

Big news this time! We have changed the name. It is now “Malice in Bomberland”! (unfortunately “Alice in Bomberland” was already used  )
Also @Vampirics has joined the project team! Below is his and @Jonne’s great art for the game

I wholeheartedly approve.

This is good too, just not quite as impressive as the title. :P

Guess who came up with that title? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Erm… Jayson Rothwell?

Well it’s clearly not the same title…
